Rex S. Tippy, CPA
Managing Principal

Rex is currently a managing principal of Red Beard Capital LLC (RBC). RBC engages in sourcing and managing various investments for their clients, as well as performing the following services; contract CFO engagements, acquisition and divestiture advisory engagements, and family office investment advisory services.

Prior to Rex co-founding RBC, he owned his own consulting business where he performed various types of financial engagements. The types of consulting engagements included: income tax compliance, income tax planning, contract CFO engagements, acquisition and divestiture advisory engagements, and family office investment advisory services.

Before starting his consulting practice, Rex was employed by Mack Energy Corporation (MEC) for approximately 7 years. Rex reported directly to the CFO and was responsible for various roles including: income tax planning and compliance, estate planning and compliance and financial reporting. Rex served as a corporate secretary and treasurer of MEC and served as corporate secretary and treasurer of various other affiliates of MEC. While employed by MEC, Rex served as interim CFO to various affiliates. Rex was involved with multiple acquisitions and divestitures. Rex gained a knowledge base of deploying capital in a broad range of investments. The investments span the spectrum from start-up businesses to private equity to marketable securities.

Rex was employed by Johnson Miller & Co. of Midland, Texas prior to his career at MEC. Rex performed income tax compliance and income tax planning work while employed by Johnson Miller & Co.

Rex is a CPA and has earned an MSA and a BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University.

Stephen Lowery, CPA
Managing Principal

Stephen is currently a managing principal of Red Beard Capital LLC (RBC). RBC engages in sourcing and managing various investments for their clients, as well performing the following services; contract CFO engagements, acquisition and divestiture advisory engagements, and family office investment advisory services.

Prior to Stephen co-founding RBC, he was employed by Henry Investment Group (HIG). His role involved locating investment opportunities, oversight of several portfolio companies, and was responsible for structuring and negotiating investments on behalf of HIG. During his time at HIG he was instrumental in numerous transactions. He also served as marketing director for several affiliates of HIG. Stephen was able to successfully source and close six different transactions for HIG.

Before joining HIG, Stephen was the CFO of an oil and gas service company, TitanLiner. Stephen was instrumental in helping to grow TitanLiner from a start-up in 2011 to a sizeable business in 2012. Stephen helped the ownership of TitanLiner capitalize on the tremendous growth by facilitating a partial divestiture of TitanLiner in 2012.

Stephen ventured into the franchise industry in 2010. He has developed and currently operates seven locations across Texas. Stephen currently owns and operates this business as well as owning an interest in and participating in the oversight of an oil and gas service company.

Stephen was employed by Johnson Miller & Co. of Midland, Texas prior to joining TitanLiner. Stephen was involved in income tax compliance and financial statement compilations while employed by Johnson Miller & Co.

Stephen is a CPA and earned a BBA in Accounting from Texas Tech University and earned a MBA from University of Texas Permian Basin.
